Over the last 31 years our program has won 27 city championships setting and resetting city records countless times over those 31 years. I have been the head coach during those years as well as the head coach at Naperville North for the boys and girls programs, taking the most pride in the number of swimmers that continue to coach with us or with other teams once their careers with me are over. I have never kept track of the number of Division I athletes we have graduated. What ‘s more important to the program is the fact that we have 19 assistant coaches this year, as well as most years, all of which have been swimming with us since early in their age group careers. This provides the consistency of messages to each and every athlete. Two of my assistants are educators, as I was for 37 years. Molly has been with me for 26 years as a swimmer and then coach, and Megan for over 20 years. Molly and Megan are what I find the most joy in. They are exemplary educators and role models for all of our coaches, some hoping to follow us into the field of education. We have founded the program on the philosophy that “It’s not what you can do, but who you are as an individual” that will follow you throughout life. We hold sportsmanship and integrity in the highest regard. The joy I see in the faces of our staff, warms my heart.
