HistoryCress Creek Country Club was founded in 1963 and its history since then can be divided into three distinct phases:
The first phase began in 1963 and continued through 1988, during which the Club was owned and operated by the corporation that developed the Cress Creek Country Club Estates subdivision.
The second phase of the Club's history began in December 1988 when the Club's facilities and the golf course were purchased by its members through a newly organized Illinois not-for-profit corporation, and began operations as a private, equity country club. Since December 1988, significant improvements have been made to the golf course and to the golf, swim, and tennis programs.
One of the first initiatives undertaken in 1988 was to commission a renowned golf course architect to prepare a complete master renovation plan for the Cress Creek course. That plan provided for the redesign of several holes, the construction of additional sets of tees, and the reconfiguration of many bunker complexes. Since that time, a substantial portion of redesign has been carefully implemented. We believe Cress Creek Golf Course is among the very best in the Chicago-land area due to the attention the membership has given it.
The third phase of the Club's history began when the members approved the construction of a new $8 million clubhouse in 2001. This exciting project replaced the existing Clubhouse and Bath House with new state-of-the-art facilities designed to complement our outstanding golf course and existing swim and tennis facilities. The new plantation-style clubhouse opened its doors in June 2004. Improvements continued at the swimming pools and with the installation of four Har-Tru clay tennis courts in the Spring of 2005.
The final phase of renovation started in September 2008 when the Club began a golf course renovation project to develop the existing course, create new challenges, and to lay a full underground irrigation system. The course reopened in June 2009. We are proud of our history and excited about the future.
