History

Cress Creek Country Club, established in 1963, unfolds its history through three distinctive phases:

The initial phase, spanning from 1963 to 1988, saw the Club under the ownership and operation of the corporation responsible for developing the Cress Creek Country Club Estates subdivision.

The second phase, commencing in December 1988, marked a pivotal transition. Club facilities and the golf course were acquired by its members through a newly formed Illinois not-for-profit corporation, transforming it into a private, equity country club. Since then, substantial enhancements have been made to the golf course, as well as the golf, swim, and tennis programs.

In 1988, a notable initiative involved enlisting a renowned golf course architect to devise a comprehensive master renovation plan. This plan included the redesign of multiple holes, the addition of new tee sets, and the reconfiguration of numerous bunker complexes. Over the years, a significant portion of this redesign has been meticulously implemented, elevating Cress Creek Golf Course to one of the finest in the Chicago-land area.

The third phase commenced with the members' approval for the construction of a new $8 million clubhouse in 2001. This ambitious project, replacing the existing Clubhouse and Bath House, introduced state-of-the-art facilities that seamlessly complement our exceptional golf course, swim, and tennis amenities. The plantation-style clubhouse opened its doors in June 2004, accompanied by ongoing improvements to swimming pools and the installation of four Har-Tru clay tennis courts in Spring 2005.

Initiated in September 2008, the final phase of renovation involved a comprehensive golf course project, introducing new challenges, developing the existing course, and installing a full underground irrigation system. The course proudly reopened in June 2009. We take immense pride in our storied history and eagerly anticipate the future.
